Teaching Assistant

Job Description

1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 1 | Full‑Time | Moseley

Are you a qualified, passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant? We’re recruiting for a long‑term, full‑time 1:1 Teaching Assistant position for someone who is truly committed to supporting a young child with ADHD and behavioural needs in an infant school setting in Moseley.

👀 Who Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a dedicated, reliable and confident Teaching Assistant who can provide consistency and structure every single school day. This role needs someone who shows up, stays calm under pressure, and understands that relationships are key in KS1 support.

If you thrive in routine, value long‑term impact, and take pride in helping children regulate emotions and behaviours — this role could be for you.

🧩 What Will Your Day Look Like?

  • Working 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with ADHD and behavioural needs
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour choices
  • Using clear routines, boundaries and expectations
  • Encouraging engagement in learning and classroom activities
  • Providing reassurance, structure and consistency throughout the day
  • Liaising closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Being a calm, dependable presence inside and outside the classroom

This role requires patience, resilience and commitment — but offers genuine reward.

⏰ Hours & Commitment

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am – 3:45pm
  • Term time only
  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: Long‑term

✔ Applicants must be able to commit fully to this schedule.

✅ Essential Criteria

To be considered, you must:

  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Have experience supporting children with ADHD and/or behavioural needs
  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour positively
  • Demonstrate strong commitment, reliability and consistency
  • Be calm, emotionally intelligent and confident in KS1 settings
  • Understand the importance of structure and routine for young learners

Previous 1:1 or KS1 experience is highly advantageous.

📍 Why This Role in Moseley?

  • Long‑term stability in a supportive infant school
  • Opportunity to make a real, visible difference in early education
  • Structured hours and routine
  • Ideal for experienced SEN TAs seeking commitment, not short placements
