Teaching Assistant, Birmingham.

Zest Education is proud to be working with a reputable SEND school in the heart of Birmingham city centre. This school requires a full-time Teaching Assistant. This position is due to begin September 2022 and will last for the full academic year and possibly, the candidate will be taken on permanently if the school see fit.

The school caters for students from the age of seven to sixteen with Autism (ASC) and associated learning needs. Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate must have previous experience working with special educational needs or in a similar setting.

The school is a large SEND school which caters for a broad range of pupils and has a growing reputation within the surrounding areas.  The school have a team of dedicated staff who put the children at the heart of everything they do and encourage pupils to achieve to the highest level.

The successful candidate must be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs. You will be working with the children in small groups and on a 1:1 basis when needed.

The role:

  • You will need to have strong communication skills and have experience with special educational needs (SEND)
  • You must be comfortable working with the student in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
  • You will be working alongside the class teacher, supporting the students with all areas of the curriculum, preparing learning resources and maintaining the classroom to a high standard

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
