Teaching Assistant, Cannock.

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic, cheerful, and hard-working individual to work on a long-term basis as a Teaching Assistant within a lovely SEND school located in Cannock. This is a full-time position due to begin October 2022 and will continue on a long-term basis until summer 2023.

This school caters for students from the age of eight to sixteen, these students have social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the children, the ideal candidate will have experience within a special needs setting and is confident with their behaviour management.

This school accepts students who have failed to establish satisfactory social and working relationships with peers and other members of the community. The schools main focus is to provide an environment which will help them readjust, regain or build self-esteem and be able to claim their place in society.

You will be working 1:1 with a student in KS2 with SEND, supporting the student with their day-to-day tasks inside and outside the classroom and focusing on the students progress. The successful candidate must ambitious and committed to providing students with the high-quality education. On some occasions, you may be required to work with other students in small groups so it important that you are adaptable to each individual child’s needs.

The role:

  • It is important you have great communication skills – basic knowledge of Makaton or PECS would be advantageous
  • You have previous experience of working within a special educational needs environment or in a similar setting
  • You will be working in small class sizes, with a maximum of nine students in each class
