Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Job Description

Zest Education is delighted to be recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them to thrive both academically and socially.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support to teachers across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Support pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and SLD.
  • Assist with personalised learning activities and interventions.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Encourage social and emotional development through structured activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a care or school setting.
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with additional needs.
  • A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant (or equivalent) is desirable.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
