Teaching Assistant, Stoke-on-Trent

Zest Education is working in close partnership with a special educational needs school located in Stoke-on-Trent, who are looking to appoint a part-time Teaching Assistant to start ASAP. The successful Teaching Assistant must be able to commit to 4 days per week and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year.

This school caters for students from the age of five to fourteen with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have previous experience working with special educational needs or within a similar setting.

This is a busy school and specialist college, which has recently been refurbished and has excellent interactive resources across the school. The team here work hard to maintain a supportive and inclusive ethos across all areas of the school and put the children at the heart of what they do.

The successful Teaching Assistant needs to be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs. Strong behaviour management is crucial and providing continuity to the class and students. You will be required to work alongside the class teacher, supporting the students 1:1 and in small groups with all areas of the curriculum.

The role:

  • You must have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs or within a similar setting
  • This school caters for a variety of ages, so you may be required to work with both primary and secondary aged students
  • You will need to be creative in the classroom and be able to offer engaging support to the class teacher and students.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
