The Role

We are looking for a motivated and caring Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join the Key Stage 1 team from January until the end of the term, with the possibility of the role continuing beyond this period.

In this position, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils’ learning, help deliver engaging lessons, and encourage children to reach their full potential. You will also provide targeted one-to-one or small group support, helping pupils build confidence and strengthen their skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Year 2 teacher with lesson delivery and daily classroom activities

  • Support pupils to stay engaged and motivated throughout lessons

  • Prepare and organise learning materials and classroom displays

  • Deliver focused interventions to help pupils make progress

  • Observe and record pupil progress, reporting back to the class teacher

  • Promote positive behaviour and ensure the wellbeing of all pupils

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual who genuinely enjoys working with children and supporting their educational journey.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – preferred

  • Experience working with children, ideally within a primary school setting

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learning

  • Strong organisation and initiative
