Y1 Teacher

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Lichfield. This full-time teaching role will start after February half term to cover a maternity leave and continue until the end of the academic year.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and caring Year 1 Teacher to teach a lovely class of 19 pupils. The class is bright, motivated, and full of character — a wonderful group for any teacher who enjoys making learning fun, engaging, and creative.

As the Year 1 Teacher, you will plan exciting and differentiated lessons that help every child progress confidently through the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You’ll work closely with a supportive senior leadership team and a friendly group of colleagues who value collaboration and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons as a Year 1 Teacher following the Key Stage 1 (KS1) curriculum.

  • Create an inspiring and inclusive classroom environment that supports pupil engagement and progress.

  • Assess and monitor pupil achievement, ensuring each child reaches their potential.

  • Work closely with teaching assistants and other staff to deliver excellent learning support.

  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents, and the wider school community.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 (KS1), ideally Year 1.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning.

  • A passion for supporting every child’s academic and emotional development.

About the School

This Lichfield primary school is known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The leadership team is supportive and committed to teacher wellbeing, ensuring staff feel valued and motivated. Pupils are encouraged to be curious, confident, and kind — creating a truly positive learning environment.
