Year 1 Teaching Assistant

Zest Education are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a school in Tyseley, supporting a Year 1 class. This is a full-time role so you will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am till 3:30pm. This position can start after October 2025 and is continuous.

About the school:

This school aims to provide an education that meets the needs of all the children as well as maintaining a happy and stimulating learning environment. As a Teaching Assistant at this school you must be able to motivate, support, and encourage the children to achieve the highest standards.

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and support classroom activities.
  • Record and report student progress.
  • Manage student behaviour and promote positive conduct.
  • Encourage students to interact with others.
  • Establish good working relationships.
  • Contribute to overall ethos and aims of the school.

You must have…

  • Relevant experience working with children in an education-based setting.
  • Good communication and active listening skills.
  • An enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.
  • A solid understanding of child development and the Key Stage curriculum.
  • Genuine passions for working with children.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
