Teaching Assistant – Year 1 – Burton Primary School
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Until October Half Term (with potential for extension)
Location: Burton-on-Trent
Sector: Primary – Key Stage 1 (KS1)

Zest Education are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join Year 1 at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burton-on-Trent, from September 2025. This full-time role will run until the October half term, with the potential for extension depending on school needs.

The Role

This Year 1 Teaching Assistant position is ideal for someone with a passion for early Key Stage 1 learning and a strong understanding of how to support children through this important transition from the Foundation Stage. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted support to individual pupils and small groups

  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management

  • Supporting literacy and numeracy development in line with the Year 1 curriculum

  • Helping pupils build confidence and independence in their learning

  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress

  • Assisting with the preparation of learning materials and classroom displays

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to supporting young learners at this key stage in their education. The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) – preferred

  • Have recent experience working in a primary school setting

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be confident in supporting Year 1 curriculum activities

  • Show a patient, nurturing, and positive attitude

  • Be a proactive team player with a genuine passion for education
