Year 6 Class Teacher

Job Description

Our ambitious and supportive primary school in Erdington is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Year 6 Class Teacher to join our team. This is a key role within upper Key Stage 2, and we are looking for someone who can inspire confidence, motivate pupils, and help them prepare for the transition to secondary school.

About the Role

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 6 class, delivering high‑quality teaching and ensuring pupils are well‑prepared academically, socially, and emotionally for the next stage of their education. You will work closely with colleagues to maintain high standards and provide a rich, engaging curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging, challenging lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
  • Preparing pupils for end‑of‑KS2 assessments through high‑quality teaching and targeted support
  • Assessing, tracking, and analysing progress to inform next steps
  • Creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all pupils feel valued
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and families
  • Contributing to wider school life, including enrichment activities and events
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement

About You

We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS) with experience in Key Stage 2
  • Confident in delivering the Year 6 curriculum and supporting pupils through SATs
  • Passionate about raising standards and nurturing pupil wellbeing
  • Reflective, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement
  • Skilled at building strong relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Ready to contribute to a warm, collaborative school community
