Zest Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in West London for a Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time position supporting students aged 11 to 18.

We are specifically looking for candidates who hold British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or above, to work closely with students who are hearing impaired, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in a mainstream setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with hearing impairments

  • Use BSL to facilitate effective communication and understanding

  • Collaborate with teaching staff and the school’s SEN department to adapt resources and support strategies

  • Encourage student confidence, participation, and independence across all subjects

  • Assist in tracking and reporting student progress

Candidate Requirements:

  • BSL Level 2 or above is essential

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments preferred

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to support learning and wellbeing

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for inclusive education
