Zest Education is proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded SEN school in Derby to recruit an experienced and compassionate Year 6 SEN Teacher for a long-term, full-time role starting in September 2025.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for a teacher with a strong background in supporting children with complex needs at the upper Key Stage 2 level. The class consists of a small group of pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), and support staff are in place to assist with day-to-day classroom delivery and pastoral care.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering a bespoke curriculum tailored to the emotional, social, and academic needs of your pupils, with a focus on building confidence and readiness for secondary transition.
Deliver differentiated lessons based on pupils’ individual learning plans
Manage classroom behaviour effectively in a positive, inclusive manner
Work collaboratively with SENCOs, TAs, therapists, and external agencies
Regularly assess pupil progress and adjust teaching approaches accordingly
Create a nurturing and encouraging classroom culture
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience working with children with SEN, ideally ASD, SEMH or MLD
A flexible and resilient approach to teaching
Strong communication and organisational skills
A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting all learners

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
