Job Description

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next rewarding role? Do you want to support children with additional needs in a mainstream school environment?

Zest Education is working with a caring and inclusive primary school in Derbyshire to find a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team from September 2025. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 3:00pm, for the full academic year – with the potential to become permanent.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting pupils with special educational needs (such as ASD, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties) within the mainstream classroom

  • Providing targeted one-to-one or small group interventions

  • Assisting the class teacher in adapting learning to meet individual needs

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and positive engagement in lessons

  • Liaising with the SENCO and external professionals to ensure consistent support strategies are in place

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school setting

  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach

  • A strong understanding of how to support a wide range of additional needs

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are beneficial but not essential

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Zest Education)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
