Zest Education is working closely with a supportive primary school in Loughborough to recruit a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to begin in September 2025. This full-time role is ideal for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic individual looking to make a real difference in the life of a child with special educational needs.
You will be providing 1:1 classroom-based support for a child with identified additional needs. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the child’s academic, emotional, and social development
Adapting classroom materials and activities to suit their learning style and needs
Implementing strategies from EHCPs or SEN plans, under guidance from the SENCo and class teacher
Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and classroom participation
Liaising with teaching staff, external professionals, and parents to ensure consistent support
Experience working with children, especially those with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties)
A nurturing, consistent, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Psychology) are desirable but not essential – strong experience will also be considered

Zest Education are an APSCo audited agency and are dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
