1:1 Support

Job Description

Zest Education is working closely with a supportive primary school in Loughborough to recruit a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to begin in September 2025. This full-time role is ideal for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic individual looking to make a real difference in the life of a child with special educational needs.

 About the Role:

You will be providing 1:1 classroom-based support for a child with identified additional needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the child’s academic, emotional, and social development

  • Adapting classroom materials and activities to suit their learning style and needs

  • Implementing strategies from EHCPs or SEN plans, under guidance from the SENCo and class teacher

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and classroom participation

  • Liaising with teaching staff, external professionals, and parents to ensure consistent support

Ideal Candidate:

 Experience working with children, especially those with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties)
A nurturing, consistent, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Psychology) are desirable but not essential – strong experience will also be considered

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
