Zest Education is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Derby to recruit a General Teaching Assistant for a full-time position beginning in September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting children’s learning across the curriculum.
As a General TA, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing throughout the school day. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting teaching and learning across the classroom, either with groups or individuals
Assisting with classroom setup, organisation, and resource preparation
Encouraging pupils’ participation, engagement, and good behaviour
Providing additional help to children who need extra support to access learning
Supporting activities, interventions, and learning through play (especially in KS1)
Contributing to a positive and safe learning environment for all pupils
Experience working in a primary school or educational setting
A patient, caring, and flexible approach to supporting children
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Confidence working with a range of abilities and needs
A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is desirable but not essential
A genuine passion for helping children grow and succeed

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
