Zest Education is proud to be working in partnership with a vibrant and nurturing primary school in Stoke-on-Trent, who are seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to support their Reception class from September 2025.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a child-led, play-based learning environment and wants to make a lasting impact during the formative years of a child’s education.

About the Role:

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting young learners in Reception or Nursery, helping to create a safe, happy, and engaging environment where children feel confident and excited to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver activities in line with the EYFS framework

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help children meet developmental milestones

  • Assist with planning, preparation, and organisation of creative, play-based learning activities

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to learning journals and observations

  • Support children’s personal care and daily routines, including snack time and transitions

  • Promote social skills, independence, and emotional wellbeing in the classroom

  • Help maintain a tidy, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues

 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children in an EYFS or nursery setting

  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years/Education

  • Understands the EYFS statutory framework and child development principles

  • Is patient, nurturing, and confident in supporting young children’s emotional and social needs

  • Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Has a positive, proactive attitude and is willing to contribute to all aspects of school life

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
