SEN Teacher

Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join a specialist provision in Derby from September. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering creative, adapted lessons tailored to the individual needs of your students. The class sizes are small, and support staff are available to assist with behaviour and learning, allowing you to focus on teaching and building positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet the needs of SEN learners

  • Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom where all pupils feel supported

  • Monitor and track pupil progress against individual targets and EHCPs

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and parents/carers

  • Manage classroom behaviour using a positive and consistent approach

  • Foster social, emotional, and academic development

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Previous experience teaching children with SEN (essential)

  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive teaching methods

  • Confidence managing a classroom and delivering to a range of ability levels

  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for working with SEN pupils

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
