Teaching Assistant (Part Time)

Job Description

Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Job Type: Part-Time (flexible morning or afternoon shifts, Monday to Friday)
Start Date: September 2025 
Pay: £89–£95 per day (depending on qualifications and experience)
Contract Type: Ongoing – Term Time Only

About the Role

Zest Education is currently working closely with a nurturing and community-focused primary school in Stoke-on-Trent that is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Part-Time Teaching Assistant to join their team. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s education, whether you are experienced or looking to gain more hands-on school experience.

This is a long-term, part-time role with flexible working hours (mornings or afternoons), making it a great opportunity for those seeking a better work-life balance or who have other commitments during the day.


Key Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with class teachers to support the learning and development of pupils across EYFS, KS1, or KS2 depending on your experience and school needs.

  • Provide one-to-one support for pupils with additional needs (SEN) and small group interventions.

  • Help with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.

  • Support pupils in achieving their learning goals through targeted interventions in reading, writing, and numeracy.

  • Promote positive behaviour and ensure the well-being and safety of all pupils.

  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to build pupils’ confidence and engagement.

  • Collaborate with staff to monitor progress and adapt strategies where necessary.


About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience working with children in a school, nursery, tutoring, or childcare setting (essential).

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent (desirable but not essential).

  • A calm, approachable, and professional manner.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other support staff.

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards children of all abilities.

  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to child welfare.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
