Zest Education is working closely with a warm and inclusive school in Derby to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with a child who requires additional support, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally within a nurturing environment.
About the Role:
This role involves supporting a child with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis throughout the school day. You will play a key part in helping the pupil access the curriculum, manage their emotions, and engage with school life in a positive and meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support for a child with SEN (such as Autism, ADHD, or SEMH)
Assist with learning tasks, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs
Use effective behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
Track progress and contribute to regular reviews of support strategies
What We’re Looking For:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (in schools or similar settings)
A caring, patient, and calm approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build trust and establish strong, consistent routines
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Full availability from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
