Zest Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs at a welcoming school in Derby. This full-time role is to begin in September 2025 and offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who have EHCPs or additional needs (e.g. autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language)
Support pupils academically, emotionally, and socially throughout the school day
Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
Encourage pupil confidence and independence while ensuring their safety and inclusion
Liaise with class teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies when required
Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
✅ Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs (in school, nursery, or youth work settings)
✅ Patient, calm, and empathetic with a nurturing approach
✅ Good understanding of autism, ADHD, speech & language, or social-emotional needs
✅ Flexible and able to respond to challenging situations with confidence
✅ A relevant qualification in education or SEN is desirable but not essential
✅ Passionate about helping all children achieve their potential

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
