Zest Education is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Newcastle-Under-Lyme that is seeking a caring and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team in September 2025. This role will involve working closely with a pupil who requires additional support, and it offers a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
This school has a strong reputation for supporting children with a wide range of needs and is known for its nurturing approach, positive ethos, and dedicated staff team. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping a child settle, learn, and thrive within the classroom environment. The pupil you will be supporting may have learning difficulties, communication challenges, or emotional and behavioural needs, and will require someone who can build a consistent and trusting relationship with them.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo, helping to adapt lessons and create a supportive learning space. You’ll assist in developing routines, using clear and calm communication, and encouraging independence wherever possible. This is a full-time position that requires reliability, resilience, and a real enthusiasm for supporting children who need a little extra help to reach their potential.
Ideally, you will have previous experience supporting children with additional needs and a good understanding of how to implement appropriate strategies for individual pupils. A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification would be an advantage, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
