Teaching Assistant – Year 5 | Burton Primary School

Start Date: October 2025
Contract: Until the end of Autumn term (with potential for extension)

Zest Education is working in partnership with a friendly and forward-thinking primary school located in Burton upon Trent. We are looking to appoint a confident and committed Teaching Assistant to support the school’s Year 5 class, starting in October 2025. This is a full-time role that will continue until the end of Autumn term with the possibility of extension based on performance and school needs.

The Role:

  • Supporting the Year 5 teacher in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across the curriculum.

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to help pupils reach their full potential.

  • Assisting in the preparation of classroom resources and activities.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting the social and emotional development of pupils.

  • Helping to create a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent – preferred).

  • Have recent experience working in a Key Stage 2 setting, ideally within Year 5.

  • Be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Be proactive, organised, and passionate about helping children succeed.

  • Show patience, resilience, and a caring nature in all aspects of their role.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
