Early Career Teacher (ECT) – Primary | Derby
Start Date: September | Contract: Autumn Term (with potential extension)
Location: Derby | Pay: Competitive

Zest Education is excited to be working alongside a friendly and inclusive primary school in Derby, which is currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join their team from September for the duration of the Autumn term, with the potential for this role to be extended further.

The Role:

As an ECT, you will take on a full class teaching responsibility within the primary phase (specific year group to be confirmed based on school need and candidate strength). You will plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons tailored to meet the needs of all learners and contribute to the wider life of the school.

You will benefit from the support of experienced colleagues, access to excellent resources, and the opportunity to develop your teaching skills in a positive and encouraging environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Recently completed or nearing completion of teacher training

  • Has recent teaching experience in a primary school

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the primary curriculum

  • Is enthusiastic, organised, and committed to making a positive impact

  • Shows strong communication and classroom management skills

  • Is reflective, open to feedback, and keen to continue professional development

Key Skills of a Successful Teacher:

  • Effective planning and delivery of engaging lessons

  • Strong understanding of assessment and pupil progress

  • Ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment

  • Confident behaviour management strategies

  • Strong communication with pupils, parents, and colleagues

  • Willingness to contribute to school life beyond the classroom

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
