Website Zest Education
Zest Education is recruiting confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors with SEN experience to work in Derby secondary schools from September 2025. This role is ideal for individuals with strong classroom presence who can deliver pre-prepared lessons and also provide additional support to students with special educational needs.
Supervise classes and deliver work set by the teacher
Provide in-class support to pupils with SEN, ensuring they can access learning
Use strategies to manage and support a range of additional needs (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties)
Ensure a safe, calm, and productive classroom environment
Manage pupil behaviour in line with school policies
Report back on pupil progress and behaviour to the teacher or SENCO
✅ Experience working with secondary-aged students, particularly those with SEN
✅ Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
✅ Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs
✅ Excellent communication and teamwork skills
✅ Degree qualification desirable but not essential
✅ Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training (can be arranged)

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
