Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Swadlincote
Location: Swadlincote
Start Date: October 2025
End Date: December 2025 (End of Autumn Term)
Contract Type: Full-time (Temporary)
Salary: Competitive and based on experience

Zest Education is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Swadlincote, who are looking to appoint a Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant. This full-time position is set to begin in October 2025 and will continue until the end of the autumn term.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the classroom, supporting the teacher and pupils throughout the school day. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, including those with special educational needs.

  • Assisting the class teacher with the preparation of learning activities and resources.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping to create a calm, focused learning environment.

  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.

  • Helping with daily classroom routines and administrative tasks as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (preferred).

  • Previous experience working in a primary school setting, ideally across Key Stages 1 and/or 2.

  • A calm, patient, and encouraging approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your initiative when needed.

  • A good understanding of child development and the national curriculum.

  • Confidence in supporting children with additional or complex needs.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
