Job Description

Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – ASD) – Bournville

Location: Bournville, Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, Mornings only (until 1:15pm)
Start date: Immediate
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Zest Education is proud to be working in partnership with a wonderful 1-form entry primary school in the Bournville area, as we recruit for a dedicated and hardworking Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on a 1:1 basis within a Year 2 classroom.

About the Role:

This is a part-time, mornings-only position, ideal for someone looking for consistent hours while making a meaningful impact. The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher to support a pupil who requires structure, patience, and a nurturing presence to help manage behaviour and stay focused throughout the morning.

The child responds best to adults who are calm, consistent, and reliable, with a firm but supportive approach. Building trust and rapport will be key to helping them thrive in the school environment.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a relevant childcare qualification

  • Prior experience working with children with ASD or additional needs

  • A calm, patient, and resilient nature

  • Commitment to the full duration of the role

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
