Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Swadlincote

Location: Swadlincote
Start Date: After October Half Term
End Date: Until Christmas Holidays (potential for extension)
Salary: Competitive rates of pay
Job Type: Full-time (Monday–Friday, term time only)


Zest Education is proud to be working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in the Swadlincote area, who are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team after the October half term. The role will initially run until the Christmas break, with the possibility of continuing into the new year depending on school needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support the class teacher and pupils in delivering engaging lessons and fostering a positive learning environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning in the classroom

  • Delivering targeted support to individuals and small groups

  • Assisting pupils with additional learning needs

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and participation

  • Helping maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Contributing to planning and assessment under teacher supervision

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Level 3 qualified (or equivalent) – preferred

  • Experienced working within primary education

  • Flexible to support across EYFS, KS1 or KS2

  • A great communicator with a calm, patient, and proactive approach

  • Passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing

  • Familiar with safeguarding practices

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
