Teaching Assistant – Swadlincote

📍 Location: Swadlincote
📅 Start Date: ASAP – December 2025 (with potential for extension)
💷 Pay: Competitive rate of pay

Zest Education is currently working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Swadlincote, well-regarded for its strong community spirit and commitment to creating a positive, engaging learning environment. The Role

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join the school as soon as possible, with the role continuing until the end of December 2025, and a strong possibility of extension. This is a full-time, term-time only position, ideally suited to someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about working with children.

You will support pupils across the classroom and may also work with small groups or individual children to meet specific learning needs, helping to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities

  • Supporting pupils’ learning and helping them stay engaged and focused

  • Working with individual pupils or small groups to provide targeted support

  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies

  • Supporting the delivery of personalised learning plans where needed

  • Promoting a positive, safe and inclusive atmosphere for all pupils

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a motivated and caring individual who enjoys working with children and is committed to their development and wellbeing.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3) – desirable

  • Previous experience working in a school or education setting

  • Understanding of the primary curriculum and how to support it

  • A current, enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude

  • Strong team working skills and the ability to follow guidance from teaching staff

  • Adaptability and initiative

  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
