Job Description

Zest Education is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a thriving mainstream school in Rugby. Job Role: SEND Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Long-Term

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm

Location: Rugby

Years: Across all year groups (Y1-Y6)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND needs.
  • Encourage pupil independence and positive behaviour.
  • Adapt resources and learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Support with personal care or mobility if required.
  • Encourage engagement in all academic activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • Desirable to hold qualifications in specific SEND areas.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
