Classroom Support Assistant (SEND)

Zest Education is working closely with an outstanding primary school to find a dedicated Classroom Support Assistant (SEND) who can help pupils with additional needs reach their full potential. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is caring, patient and eager to support children in an inclusive, nurturing environment.

Location: Coleshill/ Contract: Long-term / Ages: Across all year groups / Hours: 8am – 3:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and adapting materials to suit individual needs
• Support pupils in managing their behaviour and developing their confidence and independence
• Liaise effectively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to ensure consistent progress and communication
• Supervise children during classroom activities, transitions and break times to ensure safety and engagement
• Help create a positive, stimulating and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued

Requirements:

• Experience working with children, ideally those with SEND, in a school or childcare setting
• A relevant qualification (such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, or equivalent experience)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
• A genuine passion for education and helping children overcome barriers to learning
• A current enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to apply for one
• experience teaching the British curriculum

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
