Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Tamworth

📍 Location: Tamworth, Staffordshire
📅 Start Date: ASAP
🕒 Contract: Full-time, until December 2025 (with potential for extension)
💷 Pay: Competitive rates – paid to scale, dependent on experience


Zest Education is delighted to be working with a friendly and forward-thinking primary school in Tamworth, who are looking to recruit a motivated Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. This position will run through to the end of 2025, with the possibility of extension.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher and working directly with children across the primary age range. You will be working with pupils on a 1:1 basis, leading small group activities, or supporting the wider classroom depending on the needs of the school.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Assisting pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities

  • Providing tailored support to pupils with additional needs (SEN)

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and a safe learning environment

  • Supporting with literacy and numeracy interventions

  • Preparing and organising classroom resources

  • Contributing to planning and progress monitoring with the class teacher


About You – The Ideal Teaching Assistant

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about working with children in a school environment.

Essential:

  • Experience working with children in a primary or educational setting

  • A positive and flexible approach to working in different classroom settings

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

  • A nurturing, patient and caring attitude

Preferred:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)

  • Experience supporting children with SEND

  • A current, enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
