Zest Education is seeking dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Assistants to join school catering teams across Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy, friendly environment and takes pride in helping to provide healthy, nutritious meals for students.
Support the school cook and catering staff with daily food preparation and service
Assist with serving meals to pupils and staff in the dining area
Ensure all kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and hygienic
Help with washing up, clearing tables, and cleaning kitchen equipment
Follow food hygiene, safety, and allergen guidelines at all times
Work efficiently as part of a team during busy lunch periods
✅ Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or cleaning role (school or similar environment preferred)
✅ Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safety standards
✅ Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
✅ Friendly and approachable manner with pupils and staff
✅ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
