Graduate Cover Supervisor

About the Role:

Zest Education is looking for enthusiastic and confident Graduate Cover Supervisors to work on a day-to-day supply basis across a range of secondary schools in and around Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates who are considering a career in education or looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing teacher training.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning when teachers are absent. You’ll deliver pre-prepared lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and support students in a variety of subjects — all while developing your own skills and confidence within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise classes during the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver pre-planned work and ensure pupils stay on task.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
• Build positive relationships with students and school staff.
• Provide feedback to the teaching staff regarding pupil engagement and behaviour.
• Adapt to different schools and classrooms, often at short notice.

What We’re Looking For:

• A degree in any subject (education-related degrees are advantageous but not essential).
• Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
• A confident and adaptable personality with the ability to engage young people.
• A genuine interest in education and supporting student learning.
• Availability for day-to-day and short-term assignments.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
