Zest Education is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant to join a welcoming school in Rugeley. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment and wants to play an important role in helping provide healthy, nutritious meals for pupils and staff.
Support the kitchen team with preparing and serving school meals
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation areas
Assist with washing up, cleaning surfaces, and general kitchen duties
Help with basic food preparation such as chopping, portioning, and plating up
Ensure all food is handled safely and in accordance with health and safety and food hygiene regulations
Work efficiently as part of a friendly and supportive team
✅ Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or school food environment (preferred but not essential)
✅ Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
✅ Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
✅ Friendly and approachable with good teamwork skills
✅ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
✅ Flexible to work around school lunchtime hours (typically 10am – 2pm)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
