Zest Education is looking for a dependable and proactive Caretaker to join a supportive school in Tamworth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a maintenance or facilities background who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.
Carry out general repairs, maintenance, and DIY tasks around the school site
Conduct regular health and safety checks, including fire alarms and emergency lighting
Ensure site security, including opening and locking up the premises each day
Maintain clean and safe grounds, including minor cleaning when required
Liaise with contractors and oversee external maintenance work
Set up rooms for events, meetings, and school activities
Manage stock and order maintenance or cleaning supplies
Follow safeguarding, fire safety, and health and safety procedures at all times
✅ Experience in a caretaking, site management, or general maintenance role (essential)
✅ Practical skills in DIY, plumbing, joinery, or general repairs
✅ A good understanding of health and safety regulations
✅ Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
✅ Friendly and professional when dealing with staff, pupils, and visitors
✅ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
✅ Flexibility with working hours (some early starts or late finishes may be required)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
