SEND Teacher

About the role

A specialist SEND school is seeking an experienced and passionate SEND Teacher to join their dedicated team. You’ll be working with a small group of pupils with a range of additional needs, delivering structured, engaging and highly differentiated lessons that support both academic and emotional development. This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives in a nurturing, inclusive environment and is confident adapting learning to meet individual needs.

Requirements

• QTS is essential
• SEND teaching experience is essential
• Strong understanding of how to adapt the curriculum for diverse needs (ASD, MLD, SEMH, SLD, etc.)
• Confident managing small classes and working closely with support staff
• Excellent communication, behaviour‑support and teamwork skills
• Ability to create a calm, structured and positive learning environment
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Day‑to‑day duties

• Planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
• Working closely with teaching assistants and therapists to support pupils holistically
• Using a range of strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and behaviour
• Tracking and assessing pupil progress in line with school policies
• Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils and families
• Contributing to the wider life of the school and its inclusive ethos

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
