Teaching Assistant – Year 3

About the role

A warm and supportive primary school in Rugby is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 class on a full‑time basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with lower KS2 pupils and can bring patience, positivity and structure to the classroom.

You’ll work closely with the class teacher to help deliver engaging lessons, support pupils with varying abilities and contribute to a calm, inclusive learning environment. The school is looking for someone who is proactive, reliable and confident supporting children both academically and emotionally.

Requirements

• Experience working in a primary school setting
• Strong understanding of classroom routines and expectations
• SEND experience or strong SEND awareness is highly desirable
• Ability to support pupils 1:1, in small groups and across the whole class
• Confident assisting with literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum activities
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Day‑to‑day duties

• Supporting teaching and learning within a Year 3 classroom
• Providing targeted support to pupils who need additional help
• Assisting with small‑group interventions and guided learning
• Helping pupils stay focused, motivated and emotionally regulated
• Supporting behaviour using positive, consistent strategies
• Preparing resources and helping maintain an organised classroom environment
