Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a knowledgeable and organised Science Technician to support a busy secondary school science department. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on work and can help create a safe, well‑equipped learning environment for students.

🔬 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment, materials, and chemicals for science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Set up practical experiments and demonstrations in line with teacher requirements
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored safely
  • Support with stock control, ordering supplies, and managing chemical inventories
  • Follow strict health & safety procedures, including COSHH and risk assessments
  • Assist teachers during practical sessions when required
  • Maintain prep rooms, laboratories, and storage areas to a high standard
  • Safely dispose of waste materials following school and legal guidelines

👤 Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, including COSHH regulations
  • Confident handling scientific equipment and preparing practical resources
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage workload independently
  • Good communication skills and a positive, supportive attitude
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
