Teaching Assistant

About the role

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Rugby is looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full‑time basis. The school is seeking someone with strong SEND experience and solid UK classroom experience, as you’ll be supporting pupils with additional needs across the school.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, proactive and passionate about helping children access learning, build confidence and feel supported throughout the school day.

Requirements

• SEND experience is essential
• UK classroom experience required
• Confident supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
• Understanding of primary school routines and expectations
• A calm, nurturing and consistent approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow teacher direction and use initiative
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Day‑to‑day duties

• Supporting pupils with SEND across the classroom
• Providing 1:1 and small‑group interventions
• Assisting with literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum tasks
• Helping pupils stay focused, regulated and engaged in learning
• Using positive behaviour strategies to promote emotional wellbeing
• Working closely with teachers and the SENDCo to implement support plans
• Contributing to a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
