Public Transport Assistant

A busy and community‑focused transport service in the West Midlands is seeking a reliable, approachable, and organised Public Transport Assistant to support daily operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and is confident helping passengers and supporting transport staff.

🚍 What the Role Involves

• Assisting passengers with travel information, routes, and timetable queries
• Supporting safe boarding and exiting of buses or transport vehicles
• Providing excellent customer service at stops, stations, or on vehicles
• Monitoring passenger behaviour and ensuring safety standards are met
• Helping vulnerable passengers, including children, elderly individuals, or those with additional needs
• Reporting issues, delays, or concerns to supervisors or drivers
• Supporting general operational tasks to keep services running smoothly

👩‍💼 What We’re Looking For

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• A friendly, calm, and helpful manner when dealing with the public
• Ability to remain professional in busy or challenging situations
• Good timekeeping and reliability
• Experience in transport, customer service, or public‑facing roles is desirable
• Willingness to undertake training (safeguarding, customer service, safety procedures)
• Enhanced DBS may be required depending on the setting (especially if working with school transport)
