Teaching Assistant – SEND

Job Description

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream school in Warwick is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. If you’re someone who genuinely enjoys helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive in the classroom, this role will feel incredibly rewarding. You’ll be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them build confidence, develop key skills and feel fully included in school life. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assisting with communication, emotional regulation and learning tasks
  • Helping pupils stay engaged, motivated and confident throughout the school day
  • Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to deliver personalised support
  • Creating a calm, inclusive and encouraging environment where pupils feel safe and understood
  • Supporting classroom routines and contributing to positive behaviour strategies

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting
  • A patient, nurturing and proactive approach
  • Confidence working 1:1 and in small groups
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Someone who genuinely wants to help pupils succeed and feel valued

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
