Site Manager

Job Description

A well‑established, welcoming school in Solihull is looking for a skilled, proactive, and dependable Site Manager to take responsibility for the smooth running, safety, and maintenance of the school premises. This role suits someone with strong practical ability, excellent organisation, and the confidence to lead site operations independently.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day‑to‑day maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the school site
  • Carrying out minor repairs, DIY tasks, and routine maintenance checks
  • Managing contractors and ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Monitoring and maintaining site safety, including fire alarms, emergency exits, and compliance logs
  • Opening and locking the school, including responsibility for keys and alarm systems
  • Managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment
  • Ensuring the school grounds are safe, tidy, and well‑presented
  • Supporting health & safety procedures and completing relevant documentation
  • Working closely with the School Business Manager and leadership team

👨‍🔧 What the School Needs

  • Previous experience as a Site Manager, Caretaker, or Facilities Lead
  • Strong practical skills in maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY
  • Good understanding of health & safety, safeguarding, and compliance
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage contractors effectively
  • Reliability, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Good communication skills and a positive, solution‑focused attitude
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
