Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Step into a supportive and purposeful role as a dedicated teaching assistant in a welcoming Nuneaton school. From day one, you’ll bring structure, confidence and consistency to pupils who benefit from additional support. As a result, you’ll build strong relationships and help learners stay engaged, focused and ready to succeed.

Throughout each day, you’ll take an active role in supporting pupils with SEND or those who simply need extra guidance in the classroom. In addition, you’ll use tailored strategies that promote communication, independence and positive behaviour. At the same time, you’ll work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure pupils receive the right help at the right moment. Furthermore, you’ll adapt quickly as needs shift, maintaining calm, structure and clarity. Ultimately, your part‑time presence will still make a direct and meaningful impact on pupils who rely on consistent, caring adults.

Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND or additional needs
  • Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement
  • Helping maintain structure and routine within the classroom
  • Breaking down tasks to keep pupils focused and confident
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider support team
  • Encouraging independence, resilience and positive learning habits
  • Creating a calm, predictable and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • SEND experience or strong classroom‑based experience
  • A confident, patient and proactive approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to different needs and situations
  • Part‑time availability, Monday–Friday
  • Readiness to start immediately as a teaching assistant
