✔About the EYFS Teaching Assistant Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support children in Nursery and Reception classes within primary schools and Early Years settings. You will help pupils learn through play, classroom activities, phonics, and group learning sessions.

You will work closely with class teachers and Early Years staff to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment where children feel supported and encouraged every day.

No two days are the same, making this a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and making a difference in education.


✔EYFS Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Support Nursery and Reception pupils during lessons and activities
  • Help children with early learning, phonics, reading, and communication skills
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support when needed
  • Assist teachers with classroom preparation and daily routines
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social development
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Support children’s emotional and educational development throughout the school day

✔Requirements for the EYFS Teaching Assistant Role

To apply for this EYFS Teaching Assistant position, you should have:

  • Experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or childcare settings
  • A positive and patient approach to working with young learners
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for Early Years Education
  • An understanding of the EYFS framework is desirable
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Teaching Assistant support is beneficial but not essential
