Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

A friendly and supportive primary school in Rugby is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team full‑time. As a result, you’ll be working closely with pupils who need additional support to stay engaged, confident and ready to learn. In addition, you’ll assist the class teacher with small‑group activities, 1:1 support and daily routines that help children make steady progress. At the same time, your calm, patient approach will contribute to a warm, structured environment where every child feels supported. Ultimately, this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping pupils thrive and is confident working within a busy primary setting.

 

Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant 

  • Supporting pupils through 1:1 and small‑group work
  • Helping children stay focused, settled and engaged
  • Assisting with literacy, numeracy and classroom routines
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting pupils with mild SEND needs where required
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive and structured learning environment

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with primary‑aged pupils
  • A patient, proactive and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence supporting learning across the school day
  • Full‑time availability, Monday–Friday
