Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Tamworth. This is a full-time role starting in September, supporting a Year 3 pupil with ADHD on an ongoing basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a positive difference to a child’s educational journey. The school is seeking someone who can provide consistent support, build a strong relationship with the pupil, and help them achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 3 pupil with ADHD, supporting them throughout the school day. You will help the child remain engaged in lessons, develop positive learning behaviours, and access the curriculum alongside their peers.

Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCO, you will implement strategies that support concentration, organisation, emotional wellbeing, and academic progress.

The successful candidate will be patient, proactive, and confident in adapting their approach to meet the individual needs of the pupil.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with ADHD.
  • Support the pupil’s engagement and participation in classroom activities.
  • Implement strategies to help maintain focus and attention during lessons.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt learning activities where required.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Have experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
  • Have knowledge or experience of supporting pupils with ADHD or additional learning needs.
  • Be calm, patient, and nurturing in their approach.
  • Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with children.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
