Year 4 Teaching Assistant | SEN Support | Full-Time | West Heath/Northfield Area 

Zest Education is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and busy two-form entry primary school based near West Heath and Northfield for a full-time Year 4 Teaching Assistant.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive and friendly team, working within a lovely Year 4 class where you’ll play a vital role in supporting two pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The Role

As a Year 4 Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to two children with additional needs:

  • Supporting one pupil who uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with mobility.
  • Assisting with personal care where required, essential
  • Working closely with a second pupil with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, alongside behavioural and learning needs.
  • Helping pupils access learning, engage in classroom activities and achieve their individual targets.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs.
  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour and supporting pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Have experience with personal care or be willing to undertake training.
  • Be hoist trained, or willing to complete training if required.
  • Be patient, resilient and nurturing.
  • Be a strong team player who can adapt to a varied and rewarding role.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Have a genuine commitment to supporting children to reach their full potential.
