Full-time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We’re recruiting for an enthusiastic, bright, and hard-working Teaching Assistant to work on a long-term basis at a special educational needs school located in Nuneaton. This school caters for students from the age of four to fifteen with Autism (ASC). The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with individuals with SEND and is confident with managing challenging behaviours.

This is a well-respected school, that ensures students within the setting are supported throughout their time in the environment. Many of the learners in this environment find it difficult to trust individuals, so we are looking for someone that can build rapport quickly. The successful candidate must be a proactive and engaging individual who has proven experience of having strong behaviour management skills and working across a range of age groups.

You will be working alongside the teacher and two experienced Teaching Assistants, supporting the children 1:1 and in small groups. This is a full-time position starting after February half term and will be ongoing until the end of the academic year.

The role:

  • You have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs
  • You must be confident with managing challenging behaviours inside and outside the classroom
  • The successful candidate will need to be adaptable as you will be working with individual and small groups of children

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
