Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Are you looking to work within an outstanding special needs school? We are looking for a teaching assistant for a primary special needs school located in Telford. This SEND school caters for students from the age of three to eleven with autism. Many of the students within this environment have difficulty with communicating and use PECS and Makaton. You will be supporting nine-year-old student who needs support with their understanding of day to day tasks. We are looking for someone that has previously worked with autism or has personal experience of supporting individuals with SEND.

You will be joining a dedicated team of staff who are passionate about creating a vibrant learning environment for its students. This position is due to start as soon as possible and will be on going until the end of the academic year. Although you will be working on a one to one basis with a student, you may also be expected to work with small groups.

The Role:

  • You will need to be adaptable and have a good understanding of autism.
  • You will be joining a large staff team that provide a personalised learning experience for all students within the school.
  • You will ideally have professional or personal experience of working with special educational needs.
