Teaching Assistant

We’re recruiting for an enthusiastic, bright, and hard-working teaching assistant to work on a long-term basis at a special educational needs school located in Stourbridge. This school caters for children from the age of six to fourteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The ideal candidate will have previous experience of supporting individuals with SEND. Although this position is to work in a school environment, we are open to receiving applications from TA’s, support workers and individuals that have worked with adults with special educational needs.

This school also encourages pupils to take an active role outside the school such as going swimming, on community engagements and getting involved with pupils from other schools allowing students to practice skills learned in school such as communicating effectively in different environments. You will be required to support the children inside and outside of the classroom, so it is important that you have a flexible approach.

The role:

• The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children
• You have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs
• You are confident with managing challenging behaviour and can de-escalate any challenge you do face with a calm, rational approach
